The City of Long Beach is the second most populous city in Los Angeles County.
It resides at one end of the old Red Line trolley
car track that passed through downtown LA, in the early 1900's, and had its
other end in downtown Pasadena. Its port facility contains a U.S. Navy ship
maintenance depot, Naval Officers Club, and it is the home of the
retired Queen Mary cruise ship and the Spruce Goose flying ship, built by
Howard Hughes. Long Beach is also the home of the DC-10 jumbo jet,
built by Douglas Aircraft Company, now the Long Beach Division of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
Since the marinas of Long Beach are filled with motor yachts and sail boats,
many forms water borne activities are available, including fishing and luxury party boat charters.
